As I was checking out my Apple account, I discovered that I had purchased Grosse Pointe Blank way back in 2007, when I was traveling a lot. It still sits in my account, so I had to watch it again.
There is a lot to enjoy about this film, the casting is spectacular (John and Joan Cusack, Minnie Driver, Dan Akroyd) and the dark-ish story, that is topped by an eclectic soundtrack of great 1980’s music. All this comes together as a treat.
I have long been a John Cusack fan, from High Fidelity, to Say Anything, Better Off Dead, and The Grifters, his range and talent are broad. But, in this movie, I really enjoy the performance of his sister, who plays the office manager of his “front” company for his freelance assassinations.
Tons of action, great music, delectable talent (Minnie Driver, need I say more?), and the psychiatrist played by the inimitable Alan Arkin.
This gets the “Chef’s Kiss” from me. If you have never seen it, I highly recommend it. If you have seen it, it is time to watch it again.
